Miami Swim Week 2022

Miami Swim Week (MSW) has to be one of the biggest and best highlights of my career as a designer. I knew that I wanted to participate in MSW because it’s the largest event for swimwear designers.

I started working on the designs for the collection while I was filming Baddies SOUTH. This was somewhat o a stressful time or me. When I wasn’t filming, I would stay up at night to sketch designs and play around with fabrics I brought along with me. I wanted to make sure tat when filming was done, my main obligation hadn’t been neglected.

I participated in the fashion show and the trade show portions of MSW. On the last day of the trade show my phone started blowing up with notifications. when I looked at my tagged photos, I saw FORBES. Still in disbelief, I brushed it off and went to look up some of the stuff I was tagged in. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I was featured in FORBES! FORBES!!! Making the FORBES list was never the goal. I just wanted to show the swim world what I was capable of doing.

My designs we coined as the “micro-bikini”. We showcased vibrant colors, non traditional fabrics and high cut bottoms. I took my time selecting the models, music and design lineup for the show. This was my first time ever showing at MSW and to receive that type of acknowledgement will live in my heart forever.

Hardwork and dedication really pay off. Do things that you are genuinely passionate about and the results will always speak for themselves.
